The 1st mid-War Allied Machines
(1916-early 1917)
The "Fokker Scare" made life difficult for Allied pilots, but gradually, as newer machines reached the front, they began to regain parity.  When a Fokker Eindecker was captured and actually tested, Allied pilots on the airfield gave out a resounding cheer as they clearly saw their newer machines able to out turn the German monoplane.  By mid-1916, the days of the Eindecker were over, and the Germans found themselves struggling to maintain an aerial presence in France.

Be2c two-seat reconnaissance (also on the Early War page)
Note:  the Be2c has a damage profile without weapons.  In real life, the gunner's position made his machinegun virtually useless, and it was too difficult to simulate.

Note:  we have yet to find a shareware Nieuport 11.  So.... it was decided to use an early N-17 with a wing mounted Lewis gun to simulate the N-11.  The flight dynamics and damage profile simulate the Nieuport 11, and we can guarantee that it is tricky to fly!
